Favorites Change Up

"Favorites of the year." "Favorites of 2015." I'm hearing that a lot right now. But I just don't get it. If you put up a monthly video talking about your favorites from each month you should be ok. The only person that truly does a yearly favorites video that I would deem a true Year Favorites is Emily Noel or EmilyNoel83. She does a series of favorites and she tells you why in detail. I love her end of the year series!

Speaking of monthly Favorites. I will have a new format come February for January Favorites. I will not being doing multiple types of products. Like I won't have two different eyeshadow palettes. I will pick my favorite and link it and tell you why. I have the categories ready. Which I am showing you now

Currents for Christmas Day

Today was a rough day... Yes Christmas Day. On the first day of my trip to Disney World in January I met a mom that had just learned that her son had cancer. Last night that little boy went to be in Heaven. Jonny Wade was a special soul. He had a huge impact on so many people. His faith was unwavering until the day he died. His mom's faith is just as strong.

We had an interesting day here. It was the first Christmas without my Mewmaw. I wasn't sure how it was going to go. Especially in the afternoon but God saw to that. I was napping when all of my electronics starting going off that our county was under a Tornado warning. Not a watch, a warning was issued on Christmas day.

The rest of the day was semi-uneventful. Vin had a lupus flare. Then I have sat in my office with the door wide open for the kids to toddle in when they feel like it. I have enjoyed the lights on low and watching YouTube videos on my Tv while figuring out my Polaroid Zip!

That's about it.

Advent: Christ is Born!

Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is Born

Merry Christmas everyone! Today is a very special day to rejoice that Jesus was born. One of the things we learned as a family in Advent is that no one really knows the exact date of Jesus's birthday. Many speculate that it was actually during the spring since shepherds wouldn't be out in a field watching sheep during the winter. But what really matters is that Jesus was born.

The "what ifs" can consume a person and make their lives confusing and/or depressing. But sometimes a few what ifs can help someone really be grateful. For instance, as a group we read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (and watched it too), and we got to think about what if King Herod had managed to kill the baby Jesus? What if the angels had went to someone besides  the shepherds? No Jesus, and no news. It's a rather scary thought.

That night, some shepherds were in the fields nearby watching their sheep. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them. The glory of the Lord was shining around them, and they became very frightened. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I am bringing you good news that will be a great joy to all the people. Today your Savior was born in the town of David. He is Christ, the Lord. This is how you will know him: You will find a baby wrapped in pieces of cloth and lying in a feeding box.” Then a very large group of angels from heaven joined the first angel, praising God and saying: “Give glory to God in heaven, and on earth let there be peace among the people who please God.” When the angels left them and went back to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem. Let’s see this thing that has happened which the Lord has told us about.” So the shepherds went quickly and found Mary and Joseph and the baby, who was lying in a feeding trough. When they had seen him, they told what the angels had said about this child. Everyone was amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured these things and continued to think about them. Then the shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God and thanking him for everything they had seen and heard. It had been just as the angel had told them. - Luke 2: 8-20

This morning I learned news of a dear new friend's son's passing. He was only 7 years old and had battled the same cancer my brother battled. This morning as I hugged my brother some of those "what ifs" snuck into my thoughts. What if God had chose my brother to come home? What if Jonny Wade had lived to beat cancer? What if the legislation finally started using money for more important things that laws about guns and killing and give it to the children fighting for their lives in a hospital? I know I shouldn't be thinking of these things on Christmas day. But Kimberly shouldn't be listening to crying and sadness of her son's passing, she should hear her sons laughter and excitement of opening gifts.

Jonny had faith that many of us wish we had, myself included. He believed in Jesus and His birth day. Jonny didn't want other kids to have cancer-- neither do I --and he was already getting this story spread to our government. I admire Jonny for his bravery. He was brave, no matter what anyone says. He may not have had a choice in taking medicine since he was doing it for his life, but he was still brave to face it head on with the Lord.

I watched my children open their presents and yet my heart ached for Kimberly. The little shark ornament will always remind me each Christmas season that I need to have a strong faith. I need to believe like Jonny. Like many have said Jonny was called to heaven to celebrate Jesus's birthday party! What a party that must be. Mewmaw is up there, and several others I have lost this year. What an amazing party!

So hold your little ones near, make a birthday cake for Jesus, and praise the Lord that He sent us His son to us!

Last Week of Advent: Love

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas!

It is Christmas Eve which means it is the end of the Advent season for us. Christ is born! This is Christmas Eve is a little different from ones I've known in the past but that's ok. Life is about changing.

That's what this advent season has taught me. If it's not challenging me, it's not changing me. I really want to strive for more hope, peace, joy, and love in this coming year. I know that's not going to be easy.

True love is something that is discussed every day-- somewhere. Love has more books written about and on it than probably any other subject, well perhaps money. Which is interesting since money doesn't bring love, and it can tear love apart.

So what does love have to do with Christmas really? Well, everything. If it wasn't for love we wouldn't have Christmas.

And from far away the Lord appeared to his people and said,“I love you people
with a love that will last forever. That is why I have continued showing you kindness.
- Jeremiah 31:3

So just how much kindness did God show us? Well if you know the Christmas story you know that God gave up his only son so that we have everlasting life if we believe. Recently my group did the Bible study What Is Love by Kelly Minter. I strongly recommend it. It shows you how much God loves you. It's a really good Bible study, very in-depth. Love is really shown by making sacrifices for the other being.

The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God. And we really are his children. The reason the people in the world do not know us is that they have not known him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and we have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him, because we will see him as he really is. 3 Christ is pure, and all who have this hope in Christ keep themselves pure like Christ. - 1 John 3: 1-3

Prayer ornaments were a hit with our family this advent season. Make an ornament reminding you to pray for a certain person or situation. Decorate how ever you want to and make it however you want to. And if you can when the Christmas season is drawing to a close give the person that prayer ornament to them. It will show them how much you love them and that you are asking God to watch over them.

Be with God and love! Merry Christmas!

How to Make Your Fall Beauty Work for Winter featuring Adore Me Lingerie

What makes you feel good? Makeup? Knowing that you have one some sexy number on under your clothes? Something that makes you feel alluring as you undress after a stressful day. That's why I am so happy to say that I know of the company Adore Me.

Adore Me is a lingerie startup redefining sexy lingerie to make beautiful fashion affordable to every body. Based in NYC, Adore Me has grown from a founder with a dream to a company of 50 employees across the US and Europe. In 2014, Adore Me ranked No. 49 on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies in America, topping the charts as No. 2 fastest growing company in retail and No. 3 fastest-growing company in NYC.

This company piqued my curiosity in 2014 when I was looking for a corset. That's one the things that really help me feel better in my skin a corset. I know some people don't care for that but I happen to love it. A cinched waist makes me feel like I am a nice and ready to face the day with great posture and a great figure.

Another thing that I adore, no pun intended, about this company is that they have plus sizes. Which is something that the secret place can't give you. Adore Me has a real plus size category because women of all sizes need to feel sensual and seductive too.

These were a few ideas of Adore Me to match with their selection of lingerie to a few beauty ideas. These are fantastic ideas for something different and more sultry than some people venture out to try. I like trying new, fun, and challenging things. Sometimes just the adrenaline rush of thinking of doing something is wonderful for me.

This fun and flirty dark blue mixed with a lighter blue is just amazing. I love this color combination. I happen to love browns mixed with blues. A smokey chocolate eye shadow combination would really help this give it a much more flirty look. To give it that perfect look I recommend Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar. For some fun and flirty nails to go with this color I recommend

I love this coral/beige color for winter and fall. The way to really make it work for both winter and fall is to use hues of purple and gold with it. One of the eye shadow palettes great for that color combo is Pacifica natural mineral eye shadows in Enlighten. These shadows are infused with coconut water so much like Too Faced palettes these have a smell to them. These however do not smell like

With such an evergreen color of fabric you really need something to brighten and highlight your face. Also to help define your faces feature a nice bronzer will work to help contour your face. And also make your eyes dark to let them pop with color. For the latter I would start with stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Moss. For highlighting and making yourself contoured with a bronzer I would use Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

A dark blue is perfect for a winter night, especially if it's snowing. So really bring out the blue with a deep blue with highlighting! For nails I love Formula X The Cut - Fall 2015 Grandeur which is perfect Persian blue. For eyes I would use stila Eyes Are the Window™ Shadow Palettes Body, and on top of that I would add some stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Metallic Cobalt

A bold red statement piece underneath needs to be matched with a bold cheek bones and smoldering eye. Plus having a near nude nail really helps the color pop with your skin. For this time of look I highly recommend Urban Decay Smoky Palette along with their 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. For nails I would really recommend Essie's Birthday Suit. I also love the idea of a deep red like NARS Red Lizard

Whatever you decide to do this winter season just remember to adore yourself. There is only one you and so learn to respect yourself. Adore yourself so that others can as well.

Tea Time With Hunter: Christmas, Blogging, & More!

Hello Everyone! It's slightly chilly here in Alabama, but that makes me happy! I am sitting down with a nice cuppa tonight to talk to you about things going on in my life like I usually do once a month. So brew you a nice cup of tea, cider, coffee, etc and enjoy!

First off, it's almost Christmas! Actually it's a week until Christmas, wow! I have really enjoyed this Christmastime. We have done so many things and experienced so much! I wouldn't trade it! Though this Christmas is missing a few people.

Most people assume that I would be a Debbie Downer since I lost my Mewmaw this year. I also lost a friend, and uncle. But I really believe God has given me quite the perspective this year. Mewmaw wouldn't have wanted me to wallow. This isn't my worst Christmas. I can tell you the year real quick of which was the worst Christmas I've had (2010, but more on that later if you ask.) This Christmas isn't the worst. I won't go as far to say it's the best either.

One of the things I wanted to do this year was to create some new traditions. Last year we started a British tradition in our house of Christmas crackers. We had a fabulous time with them. I purchased many different sizes this year. But this year I wanted even more. British customs and traditions are different enough that it's new. Like chocolate ornaments! Why isn't this a thing in the US!?!

So some people have been wondering what have I been doing in my time since I'm not online as much and I'm not blogging. Okay the thing is I needed time with Vin. Our house is crawling with kids. And while we are very mature adults there are times when it's just us and we can act like nuts. I mean literally, the other night we were jumping on the bed.

Or a funny moment between the two of us the other night was it was like midnight and I came out of my office and I only heard half of what Vinny said, "Grandma got run over." Now it's midnight, I've been up to my neck in wrapping paper and I have worked all day. No my mind did not go to "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." My mind went to freaking out and crying. And when he corrected me it went to me beating him with a throw pillow.

It's those little moments that I have loved this season. We have just enjoyed being weird, wacky, and a little tacky! We are that couple that seriously dresses alike. Like matching sweaters and same denim wash blue jeans. One my twelve days of Christmas presents from him was a "Weasley" sweater. I have an "H" and he has a "V." We are a really strange couple.

We are a random couple. There are moments when we actually sit down and talk about money and what are going to do about this in the wedding (those moments are far and few.) And then there are the sweet moments when he kisses my cheek or my forehead. And then... There are the moments when I put the motion sensor talking Santa face in his bathroom after he goes to sleep and he runs out of the bathroom screaming like a girl the next morning. That's us!

It's his birthday today, so he gets birthday presents and his 12 Days of Christmas present from me. We are actually at my Grandma's making, baking, and decorating! She's thrilled to get to feed him something for his birthday! And I'm thrilled that I don't. He likes to eat on his birthday. Apparently a lot of gravy looking at that bum!

Nah, I love Vin's body. I do talk about him a lot. Or I think I do. Apparently sometimes I don't which makes people wonder if we are ok. You'll know if we aren't okay. I still feel the exact same way I felt about him 2 years at this same time. Back when it was me, him, Rain and Rachel (the dog) in a tiny 1,200 square foot house. I still adore him.

So my wish for you this holiday season is to turn on some twinkling lights, snuggle up in a blanket, with your pet, your significant other, or your children and just enjoy the season! Be well and warm!

Faith, Roll Tide, and Pixie Dust!

Second Week of Advent: Peace

Something that is not known in our world these days; peace. People are frustrated that so many believe that religion isn't peaceful. That's where Jesus comes in. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. It's part of his name.

Peace is something I search for a lot. Peace within myself, because otherwise I'm constantly battling within myself. Think of the definition of peace; freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility. How many of find peace in each day? I try to but it doesn't always happen.

Here lately I have been forcing myself to take a few minutes, about five minutes, and concentrate on flame or the lights on the tree. It's amazing at what you observe when you free your mind and concentrate on the flickering flame or illuminated ornaments from the lights on the tree.

How can you help your family find peace this season? Easy! Require just a few moments of doing nothing. Help them by placing a glittering ornament on tree. Let them have electronic flickering candles beside a window. Pray with them. Those moments will stick out.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

A good way to remember how to be peaceful in your life is to memorize this: Patience
Encouragement
Acceptance
Communication
Empathy
Fair
Understanding
Loving

People have asked Vin and I how we have such a peaceful house. This is is how. We strongly teach these things in our house. We are working the hardest on Acceptance because it can be a little more tricky than the others. It's also one that he and I have trouble with as well.

Give glory to God in heaven, and on earth let there be peace among the people who please God. - Luke 2:14

Here is another activity to do during the Christmas season to help bring awareness to peace. A nice luxury moment of indulging in chocolate!

Currents 12.05.15

Well Hello Everyone! Yes it's been a minute since I've done a currents but I'm doing an advent blog later on tonight so check back for that. But right now I want to discuss what today has been like.

I woke up 4:30 A.M. Why? Because this morning I ran the St. Jude's Full Marathon. It was an emotional experience throughout it. I'll be honest and admit that I didn't train for a full marathon. A half marathon is really what I trained for and I paid for it dearly. I was very fatigued by the end of the race, but what was waiting for me at the end was worth all the sweat and the pain. My baby brother, Bryant, who is in his second year of remission was waiting for me. He was a patient at St. Jude's two years ago. It was so such a shock to me that I almost forgot to go pick up my things.

Afterwards we went to the hotel, and I took an ice bath (which didn't really help me feel any better like it usually does.) Vin washed my hair since it had really gotten sweaty. Afterwards we headed to North Carolina. Today is the parade and the tree lighting. But it's also the SEC Championship game, so while everyone is enjoying the Christmas music of the festivities I'll be that person listening to the game on her headphones.

Advent tomorrow night!

First Week of Advent: Hope

What is hope? What goes through your mind when the word hope is mentioned? Some people automatically got to a spiritual mindset. I will be honest. I am not one of those people. I should be, but I'm not. To me it's one of those that I throw around every day.

That's something that I really want to work on. To stop throwing around words. Hope shouldn't just be thrown around. Hope is more than a wish, or at least it should be. Hope is when you place your faith in God for something.

This advent season hope is found to be true because God gave us Jesus. The hope of the world, so that it won't perish. Those who believe will not die, but have every lasting life.

Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may be where I am. - John 14: 1-3

When Bryant was diagnosed with cancer a few years back there was a lady that gave my dad a bag of "hope."

A bag of Hope

A star to remind you to keep shining.
A paperclip to help you hold your things together.
An eraser to fix all the small mistakes.
A lock to keep all your secrets safe.
A penny so that you're never broke.
A rubber band to help you stretch beyond your limit.

This was a sweet idea. My dad still has it in his truck to this day even though for the past two years Bryant's scans have come back clean. Praise to the Lord!

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.  In his name the nations will put their hope.” - Matthew 12: 18, 21

I like to remember Hope as Hold On Pain Ends. God heals us all. He is close to us in pain. But you have to believe and have the faith. God will come through on His end.
