Parties to Have Before You Get Married

The countdown is getting real y'all. Soon I'll be married in the sunny state of Florida, and boom life will change. Life will be one big party!

Speaking of parties though, did you know that many people choose to have other parties leading up to their big special day?! I have a compiled a list of the ones I love and the ones I considered!

You're the life of the party, regardless of if you are an introvert or not, when you are a bride. Just how many parties do you have to be the life of?...

Engagement Party - Your hand is feeling heavier, well of course there is a rock on it now! This is where you party with the people you know you want at your wedding. I do not recommend anybody that you might have second thoughts about inviting. This party really isn't what you call formal. This is where you gush about the proposal and have talks of the future.

Wedding Shower Her - This is one that isn't required. Some people just have a Bridal shower where it covers the couple together. That's fine. This is all of the women in the family showers the bride with gifts decor, kitchen needs, living needs, and linen needs. Again, not super formal. Appetizer or finger foods is the appropriate meal for this kind of party.

Wedding Shower Him - This is very rare, but I have seen it. Men in the families get together and shower the groom with gifts. Home repair, grilling, and office supplies are great gifts. Usually you'll find men eating pizza, grilled meats, and sides. There will probably be some game going on in the background on the big screen TV.

Bridal - Both genders shower the couple with gifts from their registry. Again finger foods is what the meal should be. Sometimes people make this more formal, but I'd rather have a great time watching the presents be open.

Lingerie - This one is REALLY optional. It's become more common in recent years. Give the bride something that is extremely sexy to wear. I like this, not because of it being racy, but it helps boosts a woman's self confidence and esteem when her friends will think she looks gorgeous in lace, leather, or whatever. Cocktails and mocktails for this party with some munchies!

Passion Party - If you though a lingerie party was out there, wait until you see this one. This is not for people under the age of 18. It's toys, but not the children kind. I have only heard of this twice for a bride. The hostess, the bride receive gifts for having the party, and everyone else can buy for the bride or buy for themselves to help the bride win more free products! Drinks are on the menu for this party!

Bridal Tea Party - This is really optional. I like the idea of having a tea with my bridesmaid. It would be a time for us to get together and just relax and talk. I probably would give them their bridesmaid gifts then. Sometimes people do this instead of a shower and the gifts are given to bride during the tea. But I like for a Bridal tea to be about the bridesmaids.

Bachelor - This one is truly probably the oldest of the parties. It's sometimes called a stag party. Stag parties are sometimes more risque than just a plain bachelor party. Bachelor party can just be about having a night out with his friends doing whatever he wants. Or it can mean strippers and a lot of drinking.

Bachelorette - Ahhh the last night of freedom. This can be fun or really tacky or a mixture of both. Drinks are on the menu. Phallus shaped everything may or may not be seen everywhere. Again you can have a good mixture of fun and "wow-did-they-really-go-there?" decor.

Wedding Party Get to Know - Have a wedding party that doesn't completely know each? Do something fun to loose up the lips with everyone! I recommend bowling, paintball, or boardgame night. It's where the menu can be anything. And even if your party knows each other this can be fun to get away from the wedding planning. Remind the bride she doesn't have to be a bridezilla.

Rehearsal - Well it's almost time! Rehearse things for the wedding and make sure everyone knows what to do. Be ready to sit down tomorrow and tonight for the food! This is really when you just eat and relax before the wedding. The menu can truly be anything that your heart desires.

Get married!
