January 2020 Monthly Favorites

Hey everyone! Wow, it's February! Say what? Were we not just opening presents and wondering what the new year would bring? It's been a roller coaster already with losing strong role models in our lives. I hope you all had a wonderful Candlemas, Groundhog's Day, and Super Bowl Sunday! What a wonderful day of celebrating! Plus, it was my church's birthday!

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. - George Bernard Shaw

January came with so many blessings! There was only one day that I felt like I was overwhelmed and emotional, but that in itself was a big blessing because it was just one day! Deep cleaning and coming up with new rhythms and new routines really helped me a lot. Honestly, not trying to take on so many new things really helped me. It's not that I didn't set goals or anything, I just chose to go into things slowly.

Beauty/Haircare:

Ecotools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo - This will go along with another product on this month's favorites, but this stuff by itself is amazing! I have never had my brushes so clean before and that's with Beautycleanser Solid from BeautyBlender. Now I have not tried the liquid from them, but still, this is the best clean from my brushes. And I'm going to be real with you... It had been MONTHS since I cleaned my brushes and they look brand new!

Skincare/Healthcare:

Love Beauty & Planet Tea Tree & Vetiver Daily Detox Body Wash Soap - This stuff is amazing! It feels like jelly when you squeeze it out, but man does it lather! I love a good lather and it felt so good to be richly lathered instead of mediocre lather. I really enjoy this shower gel!

Lifestyle:

Selene Makeup Brush Cleaner & Dryer Machine - So this product has changed my life! My brushes that were crusted with makeup (yes I know gross) are now clean! They look brand new. This is better than anything Sigma has come up with! This dries my brushes in seconds! Like my brushes were ready to use again in the next 30 minutes and hour. And used to I would have to wait for a weekend where I had nowhere to go that weekend. Not anymore!

Book

Smoky Mountain Dreams by Leta Blake - If you love male/male romance and Dollywood this is for you! Oh, how I adored this first book of the year! It was perfect to start the year off with since it has a park based on Dollywood and takes place in Tennessee. It was a wonderful heart-tugging read! My only complaint is I want to know what is the dang present at the end!

Movie/Show

Designing Women - I grew up on this show with my mother, but I don't remember it so well. I didn't watch the reruns of this show like I did the Golden Girls back when they were on Lifetime. I recently acquired all seasons of Designing Women and I have immensely enjoyed watching this series. It has made me laugh and made me think. I like watching older shows that were ahead of their time!

Music:

Mary Poppins Returns Soundtrack - I think the reasoning behind this is my office at work is London theme and I have been cleaning it thoroughly. I think I could get lost in the Mary Poppin world. I think this movie is so underrated. So many people compare it to the original and that's not what you are supposed to do with this film. It's an extension of the first one. My favorite songs are (Underneath the) Lovely London Sky, Can You Imagine That?, and A Cover is Not the Book.

Food:

Kirkwood Parmesan Chicken Tenders - These are game-changers! We have these at work at least once, if not twice a month for lunch. One of us brings these. One brings spaghetti. One brings spaghetti squash. One brings sauce. One brings mozzarella. And sometimes one brings breadsticks. But these parmesan chicken tenders are incredible! They are also freaking huge! Seriously, I usually just eat one with some noodles. And these are so cheap and eat to cook! We bake them at work, but at home, we have made them in the air fryer.

Faith:

Write the Word Journal Cultivate Worship - This is the journal that A Pop of Jess and I did together to kick off the year. We did Cultivate What Matter's Frest Start Faith challenge of writing a Bible verse or verses each day of January! We enjoyed January, granted there were days where I wasn't feeling too worshippy because my hand was cramping so bad from writing out 8 verses in one sitting. But we do love doing that!

New Obsession:

Everyone Is Entitled to My Opinion!: A Color Me Journal - This was a gift at Christmastime from a coworker and I absolutely freaking adore it! I have been journal a lot more this year already because of this journal because I get to color the pages the way I see fit! I love changing up colors. Granted I cannot make myself color a leaf anything but green... I am going to work on that! But I really recommend this journal!

Favorite Blog Post or YouTube Video:

Disney:

The Dopey Challenge - Check out my picture post from that weekend: 2020 DISNEY WORLD MARATHON WEEKEND RECAP IN PICTURES

Mommy:

Farm Scene Cardigan - Elizabethan Blue Tractor - Seeing my little chunk in this Mr. Roger-like sweater melts my heart. He wears it when we go out. He is on the chunkier side so he wears a size up, not a bad for a preemie, right? He has cute little moo-moo socks to go with it too! I'll link them too! Slipper Socks - Eden Green/Ivory

So thanks to my darling husband, when I was telling him about my favorites he ruined on of my songs from Mary Poppins Returns soundtrack. He said the song A Cover is Not Book is a very sexual song. And my mistake was asking him how...
List of sexual innuendos in this song:
"Under the covers, one discovers that a king may be a crook"
"Her trunk up top was barren. Well, her roots were lush and green"
"So in Spring when Mr. Hick'ry saw her blossoms blooming there, he took root despite her bark and now there's seedlings everywhere."(that's what happens when ya don't use protection, lovelies)
"Where she only wore a smile plus two feathers and a leaf"
"Isn't that one a bit long" "Well, the quicker you're into it, the quicker you're out of it"
"So they sang and they laughed for the king had found a friend and they ran onto a rainbow for the story's perfect end"
"All that really counts and matters is the special stuff inside"

So now you know what it is like being his wife, and that song is ruined for me.
