Movie Snacks: Healthy and Easy

It's movie season! Is there anything better to do in the winter than snuggling by a fire, munching on snacks and watching movie? I don't think there is. I love parties, but I love escaping reality with medias such as books and movies.

This holiday season there is no reason to claim that you put on ten pounds just because of the holiday season. I have a few movie marathon snacks you eat guilt free!

Some of these are just grab and go, while the others you make before turning on the Hallmark channel!

  • Toasting a slice of low-fat mozzarella on whole wheat bread and dipping it into marinara gives you the satisfaction of mozzarella sticks without the deep-frying and the breading that can be bad for you. I love making these during commercial breaks!
  • If it's a movie right before I get ready to go to bed I enjoy some cereal. I get about a cup of cereal, almond or skim milk, and add some dried cherries. Cherries have melatonin which is a natural sleep aid!
  • Another quick and easy snack that has lots of flavor is a mexi-cracker! Spread a wedge of Laughing Cow Light cheese on a whole grain cracker, and top with salsa! Yum!
  • It's known that a truly healthy snack is half protein and half carbohydrates. Here are some great pairings that I like during movies!
    • 1 scoop of low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
    • 1/2 cup of bean salsa with 1 cup of baked tortilla chips
    • 1/4 cup of M&Ms mixed with a 1/4 cup of almonds
  • And of course what would be watching movies without--- POPCORN! But let's make it healthy like all of the others with SkinnyPop! They have the perfect line of popcorn. SkinnyPop has so many different flavors to choose from that it's impossible to pick just one! You can enjoy popcorn without the guilt. It makes moving watching so much more fun.
    • A fun holiday recipe to do with SkinnyPop's Sea Salt Microwave Popcorn is White Chocolate Cranberry Party Mix:
      • Ingredients:
        1 tbsp honey
        1 tbsp of vanilla extract
        1/2 tsp of cinnamon
2 cups of Wheat Chex cereal
2 cups of SkinnyPop's Sea Salt Microwave Popcorn
        2 tbsp dried cranberries
        2 tbsp white chocolate chips
    1. Preheat the oven to 400°.
    2. Put honey, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a large bowl, mix with a fork until smooth.
    3. Add cereal and popcorn.
    4. Toss to coat.
    5. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
    6. Spread the mix evenly on top.
    7. Bake for 15 minutes, pushing the mix around twice with a spatula so it doesn't stick.
    8. Let cool completely.
    9. Then mix in cranberries and white chocolate chips
    10. Enjoy!
There are some of my favorite holiday movie snacks! What are some of yours?
