Disney World in 2016

Are you planning a Disney trip in 2016? I am, of course! I have several trips in fact. Here are some the things I am looking forward to this year with Disney World!

Starters Magic Kingdom in Disney World will be turning 45! That's a huge milestone! I was at EPCOT for it's 30th birthday. And hopefully I'll be at Magic Kingdom's for it's 45th birthday!

The Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen may have already opened but I'll be experiencing it for the first time in the year 2016! It's something that has me excited. But then again I'm always excited about food!

Prince Harry is bringing his Invictus Games to Walt Disney World Resort's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in 2016. The event hosts wounded servicemen and women from around the world, as they compete in a variety of sports events. Walt Disney World's Invictus Games will be the first time the event takes place in the United States. Athletes from up to 14 nations will compete in 10 sports, including archery, cycling, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, track and field, triathlon, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis. The event will take place at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports from May 8 though 12 next year

MORE DISNEY SPRING (formerly Downtown Disney) DINING! In 2016, we are expecting to see the opening of STK Restaurant, Blaze Fast-Fired Pizza and The Edison. Learn more about these new locations here.

Soarin' turning into Soarin' Around the World. The only reason I am not throwing a hissy about Soarin' being down for so long is because it needs an update! Granted I love Soarin' and all the smells (trust me I do), but it's time for it. It's time for a new video and new screens and another theater.

Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular is a new fireworks show in Disney World. Considering Disney has the best fireworks display in the country this is going to be no less the best ever! Star Wars fireworks? Amazing! Super excited to see this!

Club Villain at Disney's Hollywood Studios is led by Dr. Facilier opens January 16 and is a soiree for adults only.

Set to debut in spring 2016, "Rivers of Light" will take place on Discovery River between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest. It will combine live performers, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery.

RunDisney Races new medals. Being a runner of these races that's what I am looking forward to the most as well. Because it means another milestone is accomplished for me!

The story of "Frozen" will soon be retold to park guests at the "Frozen Ever After" experience at Walt Disney World's Epcot, which is replacing the former Maelstrom ride in Norway. The experience will take guests into the kingdom of Arendelle through storytelling, new technology and music. The attraction will feature the "Winter in Summer Celebration," where Queen Elsa will create a winter-in-summer day for the entire kingdom. Guests will also visit Elsa’s Ice Palace and the ice-blue world of the North Mountain. Favorite “Frozen” characters will be a part of the attraction, including the Snowgies from the animated short “Frozen Fever." In Norway, "Frozen" fans will have the opportunity to meet Anna and Elsa at the Royal Summerhas, a cabin based on an actual Norwegian log cabin.
