14 Things Every Girl Needs

Each girl in this world is unique and I believe that 100 percent! But there are some things that each girls needs to just make her feel proud of her gender and make her feel confident and happy. While I'm all for gender equality (mostly) I do believe that we are different for a purpose and we shouldn't be completely like men.

This is my list that I believe a girl should have to make her feel the most confident about herself. These items help me feel good about myself and the things I can get accomplished. If you have things you think should be on the list just leave a comments!

These are very hardkill plants but not completely pet friendly: Dracaena marginata, Sansevieria, Ficus, Philodendron, Bromeliad

A Pair of Comfy Slippers

Comfy slippers are great to have when you are tired from work or have been wearing shoes all day long. I hate being completely barefooted while walking around the house. Even though I constantly have clean floors, I still know that the dogs, cats, and other dirt is on the floor this is why I wear slippers and/or socks.

Above are a pair of my MukLuks that I love. You can get a pair here.

A personal soundtrack

The real problem with reality is the lack of background music. Music I had never realized was so important to me until a few weeks ago when I realized just how much music has an impact on me and my relationships. It's how I deal with certain situations (a.k.a dealing with the feeling of punching someone.)

Just have a soundtrack for in the mornings to get you going and fully awake. I like to start with a few upbeat songs then a few slow but not sad songs then back to happy. It really helps jump start the day.

At Least One Guilty Pleasure TV Show

I got through TV Shows that I like. I also don't have the problem of dropping a show either. I loved The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, etc. But I got tired of it. I'll flip on a few shows now and then. But I really love Salem, DWTS, When Calls the Heart, and Good Witch. I'm also planning to watch the Astronauts' Wive's Club.

But I have my guilty pleasure shows too. Beyond all other shows I will forever and ever watch The Golden Girls, Friends, Designing  NCIS, and Gilmore Girls. These are the shows I know by heart (especially the Golden Girls.) Sometimes its nice to just watch mindless TV and not have to worry about paying attention to the story line.

A Fragrant Home

When I say I'm a candle junkie, I mean it! I love candles from everywhere! But I also love incense, fragrance sticks, wall flowers, essential oils and wax tarts.

A smell can bring back memories, that's a fact jack! I am totally the Disney Nerd that on every family trip takes a different wallflower scent and use it for that trip. Then later on in life if I come across that scent I'm transported back to that trip. But it can also do that in your home. Which is why I recommend having a fragrant home.

A Notebook

List making is a legit hobby for me. I make lists everywhere! Heck this post is a list. And I have daily brain dumps where I just write down things that pop in my head. It really helps me sort out of my thoughts and prepare for the following weeks.

The reason I recommend having notebooks is that you are always able to write down thoughts. I mean, you could have an idea that could change the world, but without writing it down you might completely forget it. Trust me I have a notebook with scraps of paper and post it notes where I wrote down ideas on a whim.

A Signature Meal

Having a terrible day, stop, don't grab that phone for take-out. Make your signature meal instead. Go all out to make yourself feel better.

I love getting meal ideas from Pinterest, but Popsugar has some really great lists too! Here are two of my favorites:

17 1-Pan Dinners (Because Dirty Dishes Suck)

10 Quintessentially American Dishes

A Friend Who Is the Complete Opposite of You in Some Way

I love having many different kinds of friends. Male friends, brunette friends, red hair friends, friends of different religions, friends from different countries, etc are the kinds of friends I have. I have friends that look nothing like me as well, which makes you have a greater appreciation for people who look different from you.

When you have someone that is different from you, if you have an open mind, you can see things the way they see things. To me that's what helps me see the world through different eyes. How I can put myself into someone else's shoes and really have a great outlook on life.

A Signature Cup

I have several "signature" cups that I drink out of with tea or coffee. Though I'll be the first to admit that 99% of them are Disney related.

Drinking out of a mug or cup that makes you feel great means you have more of an emotional connections. I know this won't seem like a big deal to most, but having that cup of coffee or having that cup of tea in that mug is a reflection. When things automatically start going wrong at work I instantly wish that I was back sitting on the bar stool at home drinking my coffee or tea.

Goals and Challenges

Sure there is a fad where people see something visually appealing and are like "Goals." But like Sadie says in her video "Just Be You and Live Originally". I see things that other people do and I try it. Sometimes I love it and many time I hate it.

To give you two examples, a fitness program recently really caught my attention and I made some friends through it. But where they see goal weight, I would rather see healthy. Where they see losing inches I would rather see someone smile because they feel good in the size 16 jeans, not the smile in the size 8 jeans. That's not really helping someone.

My other example is things I see on the internet. From Pinterest or YouTube I like to recreate things. It's fun to me. But the truth of the matter is I don't just stick to one fad. People call me fake or poser because I'll wear "gothic-like" clothes one day and then the next have on a hot pink dress. It's just who I am and I am not going to let someone or a fad tell me how I should wear clothes. If I want to reach back into my wardrobe from 2000 then I'm going to do it!

A Fitness Routine or Program That You Actually Like

Fitness and I have a history- a love and hate one. Dancing was what kept me at a healthy state as a child. But once I hit college I didn't feel as healthy anymore. Sure I did activities that help me, but nothing was daily. Now that's not the case. I really have pushed to try new things.

Some of my activities are dancing, pole-dancing, yoga, Pilates, Crossfit, weights, and fitness videos. And I don't like to stick to just one program. I like to do variety.

Tone It Up - I one love love love how their videos look. It's not a dark work out room with a bunch of people paid to be there. It's two women usually on the beach. It takes you away from the city and into a tranquil place. That's why I love this so much. Plus, they have good manageable food.

Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home - This is actually what I started doing to get me into a fitness routine daily. Not yoga, not jogging out in a park, me in my cousin's living room at 4 AM walking with Leslie. To me it's great to know I can walk at home. Try a mile walk with her on YouTube! I promise you'll feel a burn in your thighs!

Popsugar Fitness YT/PopSugar Fitness Blog - Now this is PopSugar's fitness areas. This helps me tap into the things that are new and helps me keep up with new ideas for fitness. Great videos for an on the go work out as well that are free!

Beach Body - I have done a few fitness programs through them. They are real intense and really make you sweat. It's great that they have the on demand options. That's what I love the most.

A Crock Pot

Yes I believe a girl should know how to cook, but that does not mean I mean I believe that a man shouldn't know. Trust me I do believe that a crockpot is a good way to learn to cook. We taught my cousin that way and she adores it.

Reasons:

Saves time
You can prep meals in a plastic bag to just toss into a crockpot in the morning
Saves money - the flavor is cooked into the food more so less meat.
Super easy!

What do you think of my list? Is there something you would have added? Or made an honorable mention? Let me know.
